Hopkinton is an historic town located in the southwest corner of Rhode Island. The size of the town is 44 square miles and the population is approximately 8,000. It was incorporated in March 1757 and consists of four villages, Ashaway, Bradford, Hope Valley, and Rockville. Hopkinton has over 1,000 acres of open space, supporting various recreational activities, including hiking, fishing and canoeing. Hopkinton is part of the Chariho School District, which also includes the towns of Charlestown and Richmond. Hopkinton is home to the oldest continuous family business in the U.S. - Ashaway Line & Twine.

The Council approved budget will be placed on the Financial Referedum for approval by Town Residents on June 9, 2009. Voting will take place from 7:00am until 9:00pm at the Town Hall.
